In fact, during the rainy periods or during the seasons when the sun is hitting hard, discovering the country as part of a motorcycle trip is not advisable. Going to North India
For a 4×4, moto or quad trip in northern India, prefer the period between mid-November and the end of March. During this period, you will not have the right to a heavy rain or an unbearable heat. However, if you want to add a little spice to your trip, you can go there in summer (April to July) and travel in harsh climatic conditions (high heat and humidity). If you opt for a summer course, avoid the mountains of the north, because an alpine climate prevails. Be aware that in May the temperature can exceed 40 °c (case of the Ganges Plain).
Between June and September, leaving in the northern part of India is not recommended. Indeed, this period usually records water waterspouts that are more frequent in July and August. The rains usually stop only towards the end of September. Natural disasters usually appear at the end of the rainy season, so backpackers have an interest in paying attention.
If your trip to northern India falls in December, note that it is very cold in this period. Don’t forget your warm clothes and go for an adventure dedicated to exploring all the natural wonders that make the northern part of India famous.
If a passage in the Indus region is planned during your trip, be aware that it is a desert area and that it is necessary to equip yourself before going there.

Going to South India
If you chose South India for your motorcycle, quad or 4×4 trip, opt for the period between mid-November and the end of March. You will be able to explore even the most remote places. In May, it is very hot (between 30 and 40 °c) and exploring the area by 4×4 is not very interesting provided you have a good air conditioning. Backpackers who travel only on motorcycles or quads have an interest in waiting for the month of November to enjoy an exceptional adventure.
The monsoon season arrives in June. If the first clouds come from the West, the rain begins to fall in the southwest and progresses to the northeast.
If you are planning to go to South India in summer, note that you can still enjoy your trip even though the rain will still be at the rendezvous. Indeed, during the summer period, it rains heavy showers for a few hours then the sun again points its nose giving free course to tourists eager for adventure. In the summer, natural disasters may also occur, but if you hire a guide, he will know when to go out and when to stay in the hotel and enjoy wellness sessions.
On a trip that falls in the middle of the summer in this part of India, equip yourself as it should, because in addition to the heavy showers, it can also be very hot. Don’t forget the hat, the water as well as the light clothes. If you opt for a motorcycle trip to explore the most remote areas, but also the most interesting in South India, it is also advisable to have a raincoat.
Going to the far north of India
To explore the far north of India, schedule your trip between mid-May and late October. In this period it is beautiful and the rain is quite rare. The sun is also at the rendezvous but it is bearable. On the other hand, outside of this period, the climatic conditions become harsher, chaining heat unbearable and torrential rain. A motorcycle or quad trip is not very advisable, but backpackers who choose the 4×4 to visit this part of India can satisfy their desire to travel and enjoy a new form of adventure.
Going to the extreme south of India
This part promises to be unforgettable if you choose the period between December and February. As the rain is rare during this period, you can explore nooks and crannies and opt for a motorcycle or quad trip for more sensation. Although not too hot during this period, do not forget the water, the hat or the raincoat if you are on motorcycles, because climate change is commonplace in this region. Outside of this period, if it does not rain abundantly, it is very hot and out is not very recommended.
If possible, it is better to schedule the trip between December and February especially if you go there for a holiday. If necessary, limit the outputs to the maximum so as not to catch a heat stroke.
