Your Itinerary at a Glance

Product Detail Image You set off by motorcycle to discover Mustang, the former forbidden kingdom tucked into the heart of the Nepalese Himalayas. The route follows the Kali Gandaki valley, one of the world’s deepest canyons, flanked by the peaks of Annapurna and Dhaulagiri. Mile after mile you cross high mountain passes and ride through stark, almost desert‑like mineral landscapes punctuated by Tibetan villages and Buddhist monasteries. Arrival in Lo Manthang, a timeless fortified town, marks the culmination of this rare journey, guided by a local expert on the fringes of the Himalayan world.

The stages of your motorcycle route

Day 1 - Kathmandu (1300m)
You arrive in Nepal and are transferred to Patan, about thirty minutes from Kathmandu. Rooms are available from noon. This first day gives you time to recover from the journey and to explore Patan, also known as Lalitpur. The city preserves many examples of Newar craftsmanship, from temples and stupas to palaces. You take the time to wander around the main square and the former royal palace before returning to your hotel for the night.

Day 2 - Patan – Chitwan (230 m) - 170 km by road - 5 hours of riding
You take your Royal Enfield and begin the motorcycle journey heading southwest. As you gradually leave the urban bustle, the ride becomes smoother and gives way to rural landscapes. Terraced fields accompany your progress toward the Terai, a major agricultural region of the country. In the afternoon, you set off on foot to explore a nature reserve. The dense jungle contrasts with the Himalayan foothills visible in the background. You spend the night in an eco-lodge, ideal for resting.

Day 4 - Chitwan to Tansen (1,300 m) - 190 km by road - 5 hours of driving
The route heads toward the northwest of Nepal. The kilometres gradually rise into more mountainous areas. The road offers varied riding, allowing you to make full use of the Royal Enfield's capabilities. Tansen appears as a welcome stop after this day of progress. The village, calm and authentic, invites you to slow down. Overnight at the hotel.

Day 5 - Tansen – Pokhara (800m) - 130 km by road - 4 hours driving
You continue to Pokhara along a route that crosses verdant valleys. The driving remains steady and pleasant. The afternoon is free on the shores of Phewa Lake. If you wish, you can go kayaking or walk to the Peace Pagoda. In clear weather, the Annapurna peaks are reflected in the lake. You will also discover the two faces of Pokhara: the Lakeside district and the old Newar quarter.

Day 6 - Pokhara – Tatopani (1200 m) - 120 km by road - 4 hours driving
The ascent toward Mustang begins. After a paved section, the route changes from Beni and becomes more demanding. You follow the Kali Gandaki River, running through a narrow gorge between the surrounding slopes. The peaks of the Annapurna gradually come into view. Arrival in Tatopani marks a welcome break. The hot springs offer a chance to recover after the drive. Overnight in a lodge.

Day 7 - Tatopani – Marpha (2,700 m) - 45 km by road - 3 hours' driving
This short stage offers a wide variety of experiences. The approach toward Ghasa requires attention and commitment, with steep slopes and rocky terrain. The reward is in the landscapes that gradually unfold. You reach Marpha in the afternoon. This Mustang village invites calm and rest after this demanding day. Overnight in a lodge.

Day 8 - Marpha – Jhorkot (3,550 m) - 45 km by road - 3 hours driving
You leave Marpha to fully enter Mustang. The terrain becomes drier and canyons dominate the landscape. From Jomsom you cross the 3,550-metre altitude threshold. The drive takes place in a stark, rocky environment, where every kilometre deepens the feeling of isolation. After lunch, you continue to Muktinath to visit the temple dedicated to Vishnu, before returning to Jhorkot. Overnight in the village.

Day 9 - Jharkot – Tukuche (2500 m) - 35 km by road - 3-hour drive
You follow the mountain slopes along a gravel track, mainly downhill. The summit of Dhaulagiri appears at times, towering over the valley. A stop in Kagbeni lets you sample Nepali tea before continuing to Tukuche. The conifers signal a change of atmosphere as you approach the village. Overnight in a lodge.

Day 10 - Tukuche – Tatopani (1,200 m) - 40 km by road - 3 hours' driving
You rejoin the track taken on the outbound journey, this time downhill. The route remains demanding and requires concentration and a steady pace. Arrival in Tatopani marks a return to a lower altitude. You can enjoy some relaxation at the hot springs before spending the night in a lodge.

Day 11 - Tatopani – Begnas Lake (500 m) - 130 km on the road - 4 hours driving
After a final stretch on an unpaved road, the pavement returns as you head toward Begnas Lake. A stop in Sarangkot offers the chance to sample local cuisine and to view Pokhara and Phewa Lake from above. Begnas Lake provides a peaceful setting to end the day. Massage, swimming, or rest are possible. Overnight on site.
Day 12 - Begnas Lake – Nuwakot (1000 m) - 200 km by road - 5 hours of driving
You head towards Kathmandu, crossing rice paddies, pine forests and deep gorges. A lunch stop is planned in Bandipur, a former trading crossroads between Nepal and Tibet. You reach Nuwakot, a former capital of the country. The fort and the Newar houses testify to its past. You spend the night in a traditional house, with views over the valley.
Day 13 - Nuwakot – Kathmandu (1300m) - 70 km of road - 2h30 of driving
You get back on the bike for the final stage. The road crosses Shivapuri National Park before reaching the capital. After lunch, you leave the motorcycles to explore Kathmandu on foot. The alleyways, the markets and the aromas of local cooking punctuate this final immersion. Your hotel is located close to the Thamel district.
Day 14 - Kathmandu -
Depending on your flight schedule, a transfer to the international airport will be arranged. This final day marks the end of this motorcycle trip in Nepal, built around gradual altitude gains, off-road tracks and a progressive immersion in the landscapes of the Himalayas.
