FAQ Planet Ride tours

FAQ Planet Ride tours
What insurance do I need for a motorcycle trip?
Third-party liability and basic insurance are generally included, depending on the destination and rental conditions. We often recommend adding extra coverage, such as comprehensive insurance, travel insurance and luggage protection, depending on the country and type of tour.

Which motorcycle will I ride during the trip?
The model depends on the destination, itinerary and local availability. Depending on the tour, you may ride a touring bike, adventure bike, trail bike, Royal Enfield, Harley-Davidson or another model suited to the terrain. The motorcycle category is confirmed before booking.

What riding level is required for a motorcycle tour?
The required level depends on the route. Most of our trips are suitable for riders with regular road-riding experience. More technical itineraries, with trails, mountain roads or long riding days, require stronger control and more advanced experience.

What gear should I bring?
An approved helmet, motorcycle jacket, gloves, high shoes or motorcycle boots and weather-appropriate clothing are essential. We also recommend bringing personal protection, technical base layers and rain gear depending on the destination.

What does a typical riding day look like?
Daily stages usually range from 150 to 300 km, with regular stops to rest, enjoy the scenery and adapt the pace of the group. Actual riding time depends on the terrain, weather, rider level and type of roads used.

What license do I need to ride a motorcycle abroad?
In many countries, a valid motorcycle license is enough. Some destinations also require an international driving permit. Requirements vary by country, engine size and local regulations, and are checked before departure for each trip.

Are motorcycle trips abroad safe?
Itineraries are selected with local experts who know the roads, riding conditions and terrain constraints. Safety remains a priority: adapted pace, coherent stages, riding advice and local support are designed to limit risks.

What is the best season for a motorcycle trip?
The best season depends strongly on the destination. For most trips in Europe and the United States, April to October is often a good window. For other regions, such as Africa, Asia or South America, the timing depends more on dry seasons, altitude and local climate.

Can I customize my motorcycle trip?
Yes, some trips can be adapted to your expectations: motorcycle choice, duration, accommodation category, pace, options or extensions. The level of customization depends on the destination, tour format and local availability.

Are there motorcycle trips for beginners?
Yes, several trips are suitable for less experienced riders, provided they are comfortable riding a motorcycle and follow safety instructions. Planet Ride helps you choose an itinerary that matches your level, pace and riding experience.
