Connect the Atlas, the Rif and the imperial cities

Experience a new landscape every day, ride from high-altitude passes to UNESCO-listed medinas and feel Morocco transform with every mile. This journey takes you through the country’s contrasting and authentic imperial north. Leaving Marrakech, you ride across the high plateaus of the High Atlas and alongside Lake Bin El Ouidane. You then cross the cedar forests and mountain passes of the Middle Atlas before reaching Fez. The adventure continues towards the Rif Mountains and the blue silhouette of Chefchaouen, followed by Meknes and the Ouzoud Waterfalls. Guided by a local expert, you discover a Morocco shaped by mountains, history and culture.

Day 1

Marrakech - Bin El Ouidane

You leave Marrakech and head towards the Atlas Mountains. After Demnate, you gain altitude as you ride towards the Aït Bougmez Valley, known as the “Happy Valley”. You cross mountain passes rising above 2,600 metres and travel through canyons and high-altitude meadows. You then descend towards Azilal before reaching Lake Bin El Ouidane. Overnight in a riad on the banks of the Oued Âbid.

Bin El Ouidane - Khénifra

You leave the lake behind and cross several mountain passes through the High Atlas. You ride through Tagleft and Aghbala before crossing high plateaus dotted with lakes and shepherds’ huts. The road then gradually descends towards Khénifra, located at an altitude of 1,100 metres. Overnight in a riad.

Khénifra - Fès

You follow a winding road through forests and mountain pastures. You cross the Azrou region and its cedar forest, known for its Barbary macaques. You then continue to Fez, an imperial city listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Overnight in Fez.

Fès - Chefchaouen

You head towards the Rif Mountains. The road winds through valleys and villages to Lake Al Wahda. You then continue to Chefchaouen, the Blue City nestled on a mountainside. Overnight in the medina.

You leave the Rif Mountains and head towards Meknes. Along the way, you can take a detour to the Roman archaeological site of Volubilis. You then arrive in Meknes and explore its medina and historic monuments. Overnight in a riad.

You cross agricultural areas and the Oulmes region before climbing to higher ground again. At the end of the day, you reach the Ouzoud Waterfalls for your final night surrounded by nature.
