Explore Ruka by snowmobile in the heart of the Lapland winter

Set off from Ruka on a five-day snowmobile adventure in the heart of Finnish Lapland. Accompanied by a local guide, you explore the snow-covered forests of the Ruka-Kuusamo region, following pristine trails through taiga landscapes and stopping amid the wilderness. After getting familiar with your snowmobile and receiving your extreme cold-weather equipment, you alternate between guided rides, free time and a night safari in search of the Northern Lights far from artificial light. A short, intense and expertly guided stay that lets you experience the Lapland winter to the rhythm of the Far North.

Day-by-day itinerary

Day 1

Ruka

You arrive at Kuusamo Airport, where you are welcomed and transferred to Ruka. You settle into the hotel and meet the group you will be travelling with over the coming days. Dinner at the hotel is included.
Day 2

Ruka – Kuusamo

After breakfast, a short transfer takes you to the “safari house”. You put on your cold-weather equipment and get familiar with your snowmobile. You then set off on a loop through the Ruka-Kuusamo region. Halfway through the ride, you stop for a peaceful picnic in a remote wilderness cabin. Return to the hotel, followed by a free afternoon. Dinner included.

Ruka

Free day. You can choose from several activities: snowshoeing, dog sledding or ice karting (information and prices available upon request). Dinner at the hotel. In the evening, transfer to the “safari house”. You set off on a night-time snowmobile ride through the forest, far from artificial light. With a little luck, you may see the Northern Lights. Return to the hotel.
