The itinerary leads from Ayutthaya to Sukhothai, founding cradles of the kingdom, through UNESCO-listed temples, imperial ruins, and peaceful rural landscapes. Mile after mile, you ride through lush countryside, rolling rice fields, and the mountains of the north, punctuated by monasteries and scenes of local life. Day-by-day itinerary

Day 1
Day 1 - Chiang Mai
You arrive in Chiang Mai and are greeted at the airport before setting off to explore the city. This first day allows you to set the pace and begin your immersion in northern Thailand. As you wander Chiang Mai, you discover the heritage of the Lanna kingdom through its temples and lively neighborhoods. You take the time to visit Wat Chiang Man or stroll through Talad Warorot. In the evening, the night market becomes an ideal place to sample your first Thai flavors and soak up the local atmosphere. Overnight in Chiang Mai.
Day 2
Day 2 - Chiang Mai - Mae Hong Son - 230 km
You take the handlebars and leave Chiang Mai heading southwest. The route gradually leads you to Doi Inthanon National Park. The road climbs to the highest point in Thailand. At altitude, you feel the change in the air and the calm of the mountains, while the views open up over the park's vegetation. The kilometres then carry you on to Mae Hong Son. Arrival in this mountain town marks the first real stop off the main roads. Overnight in Mae Hong Son.

Day 3 - Mae Hong Son - Pai - 170 km
This day is entirely focused on driving. You follow a winding road, known for its succession of bends that demand attention and steadiness. The route at times runs along the Burmese border and immerses you in a more remote Thailand. A stop is planned at Tham Lod, where you explore the caves aboard a bamboo raft before getting back on the road. You reach Pai at the end of the day, in a more relaxed atmosphere after this demanding stage.

Day 4 - Pai - Doi Ang Khang - 170 km
You continue your journey along the Burmese border. As you head northwest, the vegetation becomes denser and the terrain more pronounced. Depending on the season, some landscapes take on unexpected colors, lending the drive a distinctive atmosphere. You reach Doi Ang Khang, a mountainous area with a cooler climate. The terraced fields and villages reflect a different, more understated way of life. Overnight stay on site.

Day 5 - Doi Ang Khang - Golden Triangle - 190 km
You continue north following roads near the Burmese border. The descent to Doi Mae Salong offers a smooth and varied route. In Santikhiri, a mountain village, you stop for a break before continuing to Mae Sai, the northernmost point of the country. The final kilometers run along the Mekong and bring you to Chiang Saen. You then enter the Golden Triangle region. Overnight in Chiang Saen.

Day 6 - Golden Triangle
This day lets you discover Chiang Saen and its history. You take the time to visit the Hall of Opium and the ruins of Wat Chedi Luang. This break without driving gives you a moment to absorb the kilometres travelled and to understand the historical importance of this region, located at the crossroads of several cultures. Overnight in Chiang Saen.

Day 7 - Golden Triangle - Chiang Rai - 110 km
You set off early in the morning heading south. The route passes through rice paddies and fruit plantations in a more open landscape. Upon arrival in Chiang Rai, the afternoon is dedicated to visiting iconic sites such as the White Temple, Wat Huai Pla Kung, or the Baan Dam Museum. This day balances driving and cultural exploration. Overnight in Chiang Rai.
Day 8
Day 8 - Chiang Rai - Chiang Kham - 150 km
You set off by motorcycle along the Mekong, with Laos visible on the other side of the river. The morning ride is often accompanied by a light mist, enhancing the feeling of isolation. The road follows the terrain and offers a steady ride to Chiang Kham. You enter Phayao province and reach your accommodation at the end of the day.

Day 9 - Chiang Kham - Nan - 260 km
You set off early for a longer stage. The route is full of bends and takes you east through Doi Phu Kha National Park. The driving becomes more demanding and the surroundings wilder. This gradual immersion in nature precedes the arrival in Nan, a town of more understated character. Overnight in Nan.

Day 10 - Nan - Lampang - 210 km
You continue your journey south. The route crosses rural areas and allows you to discover Doi Pha Long Park before reaching Lampang. Upon arrival, you take time to visit Wat Phra That Lampang Luang, a temple of Burmese influence, before returning to your hotel for the night.
Day 11
Day 11 - Lampang - Chiang Mai - 140 km
You begin the final day of riding toward Chiang Mai. The route remains varied and still offers beautiful moments on the road. Along the way, you can stop at the elephant conservation center. Before concluding the trip, you climb once again to Wat Phra That Doi Suthep to view Chiang Mai from above. Overnight in Chiang Mai.
Day 12
Day 12 - Chiang Mai
Depending on your flight schedule, you'll enjoy Chiang Mai one last time before your transfer to the airport. This final day marks the end of this motorcycle tour of Thailand, built around the diversity of the regions traversed, the pleasure of riding and a gradual immersion in the Kingdom of Siam.

  • A Royal Enfield 500 motorcycle (2015 model, with mechanical spare parts)
  • Ground transfers as specified in the itinerary, by private vehicle
  • Support: a French-speaking motorcycle guide (from Day 2 to Day 11)

  • Assistance from a local team: mechanic and local guide, and a driver for the support vehicle for groups of 4 or more participants
