Day 1

Kittilä - Muonio

You arrive in Kittilä, where the team welcomes you at the airport. Transfer to Muonio. A welcome drink and briefing introduce the programme for the coming days. Dinner and overnight at the hotel.

Day 2

Muonio – Sonkamuotka – Pallas Tunturi National Park

After breakfast, you head west to reach the southern tip of Pallas Tunturi National Park before turning north. You cross a succession of lakes and rivers, then travel alongside a mountain range frequented by reindeer herds and former gold prospectors. Picnic lunch in a shelter by the water. In the late afternoon, you arrive at chalets near the river marking the border between Finland and Sweden. Dinner and overnight stay.

Day 3

Sonkamuotka - Lannavaara

You follow the river south and enter Sweden through the boreal forest. You take the Tobaksleden, a former smuggling trail between Finland and Sweden. You cross lakes and hills until you reach Mount Lannavaara, the highest point in the region. Dinner and overnight at the lodge.

Day 4

Lannavaara - Jukkasjärvi - Kangos

You head south towards Lake Jukkasjärvi. Lunch in a sculpted ice restaurant, followed by a visit to the ice chapel. You then follow the Torne River to Vittangi before crossing the forest towards Kangos. Overnight in a guesthouse, with the possibility of seeing the Northern Lights.

Day 5

Kangos

Free day. You can enjoy the sauna or hot tub. Three activities are available: an introduction to dog sledding with lunch in a lavvu, a snowmobile ride along the Torne River with a picnic at a trapper camp, or an introduction to traditional Scandinavian blacksmithing. Dinner and overnight in a guesthouse.

Day 6

Kangos - Hetta

You cross wide valleys, rivers and lakes, travelling alongside the reindeer. You then cross the Finnish border and head up towards the Äkäslompolo area. At the end of the day, you arrive in Hetta. Dinner and overnight at the hotel.

Day 7

Hetta – Karesuando – Pallas Tunturi National Park

You explore the eastern part of Pallas Tunturi National Park, travelling between hills and open landscapes. After an off-trail ride through the hills, you enjoy a picnic lunch on Lake Pallasjärvi. You then follow the Raatama River to Ounasjärvi, where you spend the night in a family-run hotel.
