Interview with Marcel, USA & Canada motorcycle expert: roadtrip in the blood

Marcel lives in Montréal and designs motorcycle journeys across the United States and Canada for Planet Ride. His approach is simple: ride the best roads, keep the pace realistic, and make sure every traveler—first-timer or seasoned rider—feels looked after without losing that essential sense of freedom.

Quick intro

Name: Marcel
Based in: Montréal, Canada
Destinations he runs on Planet Ride: Canada & the United States

Why did you choose North America as your home?

“I’ve been lucky enough to ride and travel across many continents, but my home is here. Montréal has an energy that pulls you in. It makes me want to share my love for this part of the world with riders coming from everywhere.”

What’s your story—how did you end up creating motorcycle trips?

“I’ve been riding forever, and I turned that passion into my job. I’m drawn to good asphalt and clean curves—those roads where your line feels natural. I’ve traveled a lot, on very different continents: Asia, Africa, the Americas.

Today I have strong experience escorting groups, and that’s a craft in itself: you read people, you adapt, you keep the day flowing. What I love is that no two trips are the same. I enjoy riding with beginners and experienced riders alike—the group dynamic changes, and that’s what makes it alive.”

What makes a North America motorcycle trip unmissable for you?

“Landscapes first, then culture—and above all: the feeling of space. These days, everything feels framed and standardized. On a bike, in a North American context, that sensation of infinite road is the essence of riding. Breathing cool air and feeling like the road never ends…”

What’s the biggest advantage of a motorcycle trip in the USA and Canada?

“It’s a perfect playground. You have everything you need for a great roadtrip: huge nature, legendary roads, and a real riding community. The mindset is there—motorcycling is part of the culture in many regions.”

Your favorite place?

“There are too many. We’ll talk about it over a beer after a solid day of riding.”

Your best riding memory?

“Every time I start my bike… You know what I mean? Adventure category.”

What bikes do travelers ride with you and Planet Ride?

“To discover the myth of wide-open spaces—especially the American West—and legendary roads like Route 66, a Harley-Davidson naturally fits the story. That said, we adapt to what travelers want. From an Electra Glide to a Softail, or something more sporty—there’s an option for different tastes and budgets.”

What makes your motorcycle travel service different?

“We treat every rider as a unique traveler. Even if two people want to see the same region, they don’t want the same trip. That’s where the value is: we listen carefully and focus on service, so the experience feels smooth and personal.”

A message for future Planet Riders?

“Motorcycling isn’t for everyone. But for those who have it in their gut, it’s a way to express life—feeling your heart beat.

It’s not a race. It’s not a show. It’s not about proving you have a bigger or better bike. It’s simple: it’s a way of life.
