Drive at the gateway to Tibet along high-altitude roads.

You take to the road in northern India, riding from the Himalayan valleys to the high plateaus at the gateway to Tibet. As altitude increases, the road crosses mountain passes, follows narrow valleys, and leads to remote villages and Buddhist monasteries perched in the landscape.
Riding alternates between narrow mountain roads, more open sections, and long, steady climbs where every kilometer is earned. Gradually, the scenery becomes more mineral: wide open plateaus, rocky reliefs, and endless horizons. Each stage is carefully designed according to distance, altitude, and the rhythm imposed by the mountains, ensuring a smooth, controlled progression throughout the journey.

Day-by-day itinerary

Day 1
Day 1 – Arrival in Delhi
On arrival in Delhi you will be met by our local expert. A transfer to your hotel will be arranged.
This first day allows you to recover from the flight or to begin exploring New Delhi at your own pace. It lays the groundwork for the journey before the gradual entry into the Himalayas. Overnight at the hotel.
Day 2
Day 2 - Delhi - Nalagarh - 310 km
You leave Delhi by vehicle to reach Nalagarh, crossing the vast agricultural plains of Punjab. This transfer lets you avoid heavy traffic and conserve your energy for the rest of the motorcycle trip. The route passes through a fertile region, marked by cultivated fields and rural villages. You arrive in Nalagarh late in the day and settle into a historic fort located on the first foothills of the Himalayas. Overnight stay.
Day 3
Day 3 - Nalagarh to Shimla - 110 km
The motorcycle journey truly begins today. You get to grips with your Royal Enfield before setting off on a mountain road that winds through the forest.
The first bends let you find your rhythm and adapt to riding at altitude. Progress is smooth and marks a real contrast with the Indian plains. You reach Shimla, capital of Himachal Pradesh, perched at around 2,000 meters. Overnight at the hotel.

Day 4
Day 4 - Shimla to Sarahan - 180 km
You continue your journey through the Himalayan foothills. The route alternates between forests, orchards and more open terrain, offering varied and steady driving.
As you gain altitude, the landscape changes and heralds the more remote valleys ahead. You arrive in Sarahan, the gateway to the Kinnaur Valley. There you visit the Bhimakali Temple, an important spiritual site in the region. Overnight in a guesthouse.
Day 5
Day 5 - Sarahan to Sangla - 140 km
Today you follow a route steeped in history: the Hindustan–Tibet road, used for centuries to link the Punjab with the high Tibetan plateaus.
The drive follows the Sutlej Valley before entering a narrower gorge, then swings into the Baspa Valley. You reach Sangla, at about 2,500 metres above sea level, before continuing to the village of Chitkul. Return to Sangla for the night.
Day 6
Day 6 - Sangla - Nako - 150 km
You re-enter the Sutlej Valley and gradually gain altitude toward the Tibetan Plateau. The landscape becomes more barren and open. Driving demands greater concentration, both because of the terrain and the increasing isolation. You enter the High Himalaya and reach the Tibetan village of Nako, at 3,600 meters above sea level, not far from the Sino‑Tibetan border. Overnight in the village.
Day 7
Day 7 - Nako - Kaza - 110 km
The motorcycle journey continues in the Spiti Valley, a region with a strong Buddhist presence. You pass through several villages before reaching Tabo, which is home to one of the oldest Tibetan monasteries still in operation, founded in 999. After the visit, you continue on to Kaza, the main town of the valley, situated at 3,600 meters above sea level. Night at the hotel.
Day 8
Day 8 - Kaza - 75 km
This day is devoted to exploring the surroundings of Kaza. You drive to the Dankhar Monastery, built into the mountainside, then to the village of Lallung. The pace is intentionally relaxed, allowing time to acclimatize and to better appreciate the high-altitude scenery. Return to Kaza in the afternoon. Free time and overnight stay there.
Day 9
Day 9 - Kaza - Kibber - 60 to 80 km
You leave Kaza for Kibber, one of the highest inhabited villages in the region, located at about 4,200 metres.
En route you visit Kye Monastery, emblematic of the Spiti Valley. Once settled in Kibber, you continue to Tashigong for an off‑road stretch before returning to the village. Overnight in a guesthouse.
Day 10
Day 10 – Kibber – Chandra Tal Lake – 120 km
You head back northwest and cross Kunzum Pass at 4,600 meters, a symbolic gateway between the Spiti Valley and the Lahaul Valley. Prayer flags and the surrounding glaciers strongly mark this stage. The route then follows a more demanding track leading to Chandra Tal, also called “Moon Lake.” You camp on the lakeshore in a remote, rocky setting.
Day 11
Day 11 - Chandra Tal Lake - Manali - 130 km
You descend the Chandra Valley before crossing the Rohtang Pass, at around 3,900 metres, which links the high Tibetan plateaus to the Kullu Valley. The drive alternates between technical sections and long descents. As you lose altitude, vegetation returns. You reach Manali at the end of the day. Overnight at the hotel.
Day 12
Day 12 - Naggar & Manali - 110 km
You explore the upper Kullu Valley, known for its orchards and lush surroundings, often nicknamed the "Apple Valley."
The route passes through several villages and takes you to Naggar, home to a fort dating from the 15th century. Return to Manali in the afternoon. Free time and overnight at the hotel.
Day 13
Day 13 - Manali - Delhi - 560 km
You have a free day in Manali before an overnight transfer to Delhi. This stage marks the gradual exit from the Himalayan realm and the end of the road portion of the trip.
