Django Adventure: the new edition of a one-of-a-kind scooter roadtrip

The Django Adventure is back. This year, Planet Ride and Peugeot Scooters team up again for a scooter roadtrip with a new route—and a 100% female duo at the handlebars. The objective is simple and powerful: link Paris to Casablanca on two Peugeot Django 125cc scooters, following the most memorable roads through southern France, Spain, and Morocco. Expect a ride shaped by heritage towns, big landscapes, and real encounters—designed to be followed day by day, like a moving travel diary.

From the first Django Adventure (2016) to a new route (2017)

2016: a modern echo of an old feat—Saigon to Paris

In 2016, two riders and reporters, Samuel and Ambroise, set out on a bold challenge: to retrace an extraordinary journey inspired by Serge Gracium and Michel Vaslin—two French naval aviation sailors who, 60 years earlier, rode from Saigon to Paris on a Peugeot Scooters S57.

Samuel and Ambroise took on more than two months on the road, crossing 14 countries and 50 stopover cities, clocking a total of 12,000 km on two Peugeot Django 125cc scooters. The Django’s neo-retro lines are directly inspired by the S57—an aesthetic nod that turned the whole ride into a rolling tribute.

Planet Ride was proud to be selected as the official partner, supporting the project with the kind of logistics that matter when you’re far from home: reliable local relays, realistic routing, and a framework built to avoid “hero mode” decisions on tough days. The result: a true success, with no technical issue disrupting the roadtrip—an achievement in regions where weather can turn quickly and surfaces can vary from smooth asphalt to punishing backroads.

2017: Paris to Casablanca, with two selected adventurers

Early May, two friends will depart on a new Django Adventure: Paris to Casablanca, around 3,000 km on two Peugeot Django scooters. Planet Ride is once again the official partner of this Peugeot Scooters event, shaping an itinerary made for storytelling as much as for riding.

The duo—adventurers, content creators, and riders—will travel across France, Spain, and Morocco, chasing the kinds of roads you remember: long southern stretches, mountain crossings, and coastal approaches where the air changes as you get closer to the Atlantic.

The format: casting, long ride, and a travel diary you can follow

A casting to choose the two riders

This edition begins before the first kilometer: two riders are selected through a casting process launched in February and closing at the time of the announcement. The goal is to find two personalities able to carry the roadtrip on and off the scooter—riders with appetite for detours, conversations, and the discipline required by a long-distance itinerary.

More than 40 days on the road

The ride is planned as a long-form journey—40+ days—with key stopovers including Bordeaux, Madrid, Granada, and Rabat, before reaching Casablanca.

On a scooter, that duration isn’t a luxury—it’s what makes the trip rideable. For a 3,000 km scooter roadtrip, a safe rhythm often means avoiding “too much, too fast”: in practice, think several hours of real riding per day rather than chasing big numbers, especially when you add filming, city traffic, and border/admin time.

Planet Ride pro tip (the one that prevents fatigue): plan your day around two riding blocks—morning + late afternoon—and protect a real break in the middle (fuel, hydration, a proper meal). It’s the simplest way to keep attention sharp on secondary roads and in urban entry/exit traffic.

What makes this scooter roadtrip different

  • A consistent machine: two identical Peugeot Django 125cc scooters—same performance window, same maintenance logic, same limits.
  • Routes built for emotion, not just distance: southern France and Spain for flowing tarmac; Morocco for contrasts—coast, cities, wide-open horizons.
  • A roadtrip you can actually follow: the journey is designed as a narrative, not a silent crossing.

How to follow the Django Adventure

The project is structured as a multi-episode story: five web series will recap the main stages, complemented by day-by-day immersion videos (“Django Inside”) and social media updates through Planet Ride and Peugeot Scooters channels. The riders will also keep a travel diary—an on-the-road record of traditions, urban culture, and the small moments you only notice at scooter pace.

More than an “event”, it’s an itinerary designed by Planet Ride with a clear set of values: travel, encounters, culture, escape, downtime, and gastronomy—without losing the edge that makes a scooter roadtrip feel like a real adventure.

Mini-guide: practical checks before a Paris–Casablanca scooter roadtrip

  • Documents: carry originals + digital copies offline (phone + cloud). Border steps and vehicle papers can require patience.
  • Connectivity: plan for offline navigation (download maps) and a simple roaming/eSIM setup; signal can drop outside main corridors.
  • Hydration & heat: Morocco can be dry and warm quickly—keep water accessible on the scooter and stop before you’re thirsty.
  • Fuel strategy: don’t wait for the last bar; top up when you can, especially on long stretches between towns.
  • Road surfaces: expect a mix—motorways, secondary roads, city traffic, and occasional rough patches. Tire pressure and daily quick checks matter.

FAQ

Is a 125cc scooter enough for a long roadtrip like Paris–Casablanca?

Yes—if the itinerary is paced realistically and built around secondary roads, regular breaks, and daily checks. The key is rhythm, not top speed.

How long should you plan for a scooter roadtrip of around 3,000 km?

This project is built on 40+ days, which leaves space for rest, filming, and city crossings. For most riders, extra buffer days make the trip safer and more enjoyable.

What should you prioritize for comfort and safety on a multi-week scooter ride?

Consistency: the same daily routine (hydration, fuel, tire/chain/brake quick checks if relevant, and a protected mid-day break) is what keeps small problems from becoming big ones.

À savoir aujourd’hui

The story, the route idea, and the “Paris to Casablanca by scooter” spirit remain the same. What must be checked before riding in 2026: border requirements, insurance coverage, and any local traffic regulations along the route. Also confirm current access conditions for your planned roads and cities, especially during peak travel periods.
