Planet Ride on BFM Business: live on “Goûts de Luxe Paris”
On October 8, 2015, Planet Ride was featured live on BFM Business in the show Goûts de Luxe Paris, hosted by Karine Vergniol. Our director, Baptiste Frérot, joined the program by phone to discuss a shift we were already seeing on the ground: travelers changing the way they prepare, book and experience a roadtrip as new technologies accelerate.
The segment placed Planet Ride alongside three other French companies invited that day: 1K Hotel, Oist, and Wiiizi.
What the show focused on
Goûts de Luxe Paris highlights the people and businesses shaping the economic life of the Paris region. In this context, Planet Ride was invited to speak about how digital tools were transforming expectations: faster decision cycles, a stronger need for reassurance, and a new balance between autonomy and human support when planning a motorized trip.
For us, that topic is not theoretical. A roadtrip—especially on two wheels—doesn’t forgive approximation: route rhythm, fatigue management, fuel stops, and staying connected (or intentionally offline) all have real consequences on safety and enjoyment. Technology can help, but only if it serves the ride—not the other way around.
What we shared from the field
- Travel behavior was becoming more “real-time”. Riders wanted quicker answers, clearer comparisons, and the ability to validate key points (routes, seasons, support) without spending weeks researching.
- Trust was becoming central. When you’re committing to a motorized itinerary, you want to know who designed it, who you can reach if conditions shift, and what happens if something goes wrong.
- Tools were multiplying—so curation mattered. GPS tracks, mapping, communities, reviews: the challenge wasn’t access to information anymore, but separating the useful from the noise.
Our social recap (live posts)
That day, we also shared the moment in real time on our social channels:

The replay was announced as available the next day after broadcast.
A practical takeaway for riders (still true today)
If there’s one “pro” rule we apply when building a motorized itinerary, it’s this: never plan days based on distance alone. Real riding time depends on road type (mountain passes, gravel, urban exits), weather, stops, and the group’s level. In practice, a “reasonable” day often means 6 to 8 hours of real riding maximum if you want to arrive with enough margin to enjoy the place—and ride again the next morning without cumulative fatigue.
That’s where the right mix of technology (navigation, offline access, communication) and human expertise makes a difference: you keep freedom, but you reduce the avoidable risks.
À savoir aujourd’hui
This article reflects a media appearance from 2015. The core idea remains valid: technology keeps reshaping how riders plan and book a roadtrip. Before leaving, verify current broadcast availability for replays, and always double-check today’s rules and conditions (connectivity, apps, and platform features evolve fast).
