Buggy in Morocco: Everything You Need to Know Before You Go
A buggy raid in Morocco allows you to explore terrain that is inaccessible by a standard vehicle: desert tracks, rocky plateaus, isolated valleys, and the rugged landscapes of the Atlas Mountains. It’s an off-road driving experience that requires a bit of preparation.
At Planet Ride, we work in Morocco with Malak, our local expert. She has been supervising these trips for several years and knows the realities of the terrain perfectly: weather conditions, the technical nature of the tracks, group management, and safety. Before booking, here are the key things you should know.
Minimum Age and Driving License
The minimum age to drive a buggy is 16 years old. Younger participants may still join as passengers depending on the vehicle configuration.
No driving license is required. Driving takes place exclusively on off-road tracks, away from regular road traffic. However, you should have basic driving experience and feel comfortable operating a motorized vehicle.
What Level Is Required?
Buggies are accessible and quick to get used to. You don’t need to be an experienced driver to take part. You simply need to manage your trajectory, adjust your speed, and feel comfortable on uneven terrain.
Before each departure, the team provides a full briefing to explain how the vehicle works and the rules for group riding. The first few kilometers allow you to get familiar with the buggy and find your rhythm.
With progressive guidance adapted to the group’s level, the experience remains accessible and focused on the enjoyment of driving.
What Buggies Are Used?
Our expert Malak and her team mainly use:
- Can-Am Maverick Trail 700, agile and well-suited for narrow and technical tracks.
- Can-Am Maverick X3, more powerful, designed for open terrain and faster sections.
These models are automatic and equipped with a roll cage and safety harnesses. They are regularly maintained by the local team to ensure reliability and safety.
Equipment and Safety
A helmet and protective goggles are included.
We recommend bringing gloves, closed-toe shoes, long-sleeved clothing, and dust protection.
Each outing includes a mandatory safety briefing, a professional guide, and a support vehicle. The objective is not performance, but a supervised exploration experience.
Insurance and Departure Conditions
Each buggy comes with third-party liability insurance included. This covers damage caused to a third party. However, damage to the vehicle may remain the responsibility of the driver, depending on local conditions. Full details are provided before your booking is confirmed.
We also remind you that Planet Ride travel insurance offers a deductible buy-back option. This can cover up to €1,500 in the event of a collision, according to the policy conditions. It is a relevant complementary solution to limit your financial exposure.
Group departures are guaranteed from 5 participants. This threshold ensures proper supervision, the presence of the support vehicle, and a well-structured organization.
A buggy raid in Morocco is an accessible off-road experience when it is well supervised. If you have any doubts about your level or the most suitable format, feel free to speak with your Planet Ride advisor. Our role is to guide you toward the experience that truly fits you, with full transparency.
