Spend your first day exploring the historic French Quarter and discovering the city's colonial heritage. New Orleans - Vicksburg

Your motorcycle road trip through the American South begins today! This first riding day is ideal for getting comfortable with your motorcycle, as most of the route follows easy highways. Leaving New Orleans, you'll ride along Interstate 10 to Baton Rouge, the capital of Louisiana. From there, you join Highway 61 toward Natchez, the oldest city in Mississippi, named after a Native American tribe. From this charming town, you'll follow the historic Natchez Trace Parkway, a scenic route used since the late 18th century that winds through forests all the way to Nashville. You'll ride this legendary road as far as Vicksburg, where you'll spend the night.

Vicksburg - Memphis

Before leaving Vicksburg, take some time to visit Vicksburg National Military Park, a national park preserving key Civil War battle sites. Back on your motorcycle, Highway 61 takes you north toward Memphis, roughly following the winding course of the Mississippi River. Along the way, a stop at the Delta Blues Museum offers the chance to discover the history of the blues, the musical genre born in the Deep South during the mid-19th century. After this musical break, continue your ride to Memphis, where you'll spend the night. Among its must-see attractions are Graceland, Elvis Presley's final home, and the National Civil Rights Museum, located at the site where Martin Luther King Jr. was assassinated. After exploring the birthplace of the blues, your journey through the Deep South continues toward Nashville. Riding your motorcycle, you'll first head to Shiloh National Military Park, a protected historic site marking the location of the 1862 Battle of Shiloh during the American Civil War.
