Day-by-day itinerary

Day 1

Dakar - Mbodiène

Upon arrival in Dakar, you are welcomed and transferred along the Petite Côte to Mbodiène. After settling in, you collect your scooter and meet your guide and the other participants during an initial briefing. This first evening gives you time to soak up the atmosphere of the journey before setting off the following morning.
Day 2

Mbodiène - Yayème

You leave the coast and head towards Joal, one of Senegal’s major fishing ports. A stop allows you to discover the island of Fadiouth, shaped entirely by generations of accumulated seashells. You then continue along the mangroves of the Sine-Saloum before reaching Yayème, where your lodge welcomes you for this first night in the heart of rural Senegal.

Day 3

Yayème - Sokone

You leave Yayème and cross the characteristic landscapes of the Sine-Saloum Delta. Trails and narrow roads wind between baobab trees, Serer villages and vast plains where herds of zebu graze. After crossing the Foundiougne Bridge, you reach Sokone on the edge of the mangroves. Set along the bolongs, your lodge offers a peaceful setting for your first immersion in the heart of the Saloum.

Day 4

Sokone

Today, the scooter remains at the lodge while you discover the Sine-Saloum Delta. By kayak, you explore the bolongs winding through the mangroves, a haven for abundant wildlife, including numerous birds, crabs and shellfish. This day also offers an opportunity to share special moments with local residents before ending the evening with a Senegalese-style dinner, often accompanied by traditional music and dancing.
Day 5

Sokone - Sanyang

You head towards The Gambia to continue your West African adventure. After completing the border formalities, you board the ferry across the River Gambia before reaching Banjul. You then continue along the coast to Sanyang, with the Atlantic Ocean beside you for the final kilometres before settling into a lodge overlooking a magnificent wild beach.

Day 6

Sanyang - Kafountine

You leave The Gambia and head towards Casamance. After another border crossing, you travel across the river by pirogue before rejoining your scooters. You then follow a sandy trail through lush vegetation and several Diola villages until you reach Kafountine. Set on the shores of a lake, your ecolodge is an ideal base from which to discover this region, renowned for its authenticity, unspoilt nature and the warm welcome of its inhabitants.

Kafountine - Enampor

You leave Kafountine and continue exploring Casamance. The road passes through a succession of lively villages and colourful markets before reaching Ziguinchor, the regional capital. After crossing the Casamance River, you alternate between secondary roads and trails until you reach the Diola village of Enampor. You spend the night in a traditional impluvium house, an iconic form of Casamance architecture that reflects the ancestral craftsmanship of its inhabitants.

Enampor - Cap Skirring

After one last exploration of the village, you set off towards Cap Skirring. The scenery alternates between forests, rice fields and small villages before giving way to long beaches along the Atlantic Ocean. After lunch overlooking the sea, you settle into your lodge and enjoy this seaside resort, renowned for its relaxed atmosphere and unspoilt coastline.

Cap Skirring - Diembéring - Kachiouane - Cap Skirring

Today, you swap the scooters for quad bikes to explore the surroundings of Cap Skirring. You discover the lively atmosphere of the fishing port before riding along the beach to Diembéring. A sandy trail then leads you to Kachiouane, in the heart of the mangroves, where lunch awaits you by the water. The afternoon is devoted to discovering Diola culture and the daily lives of local residents before watching the sunset over the beaches of Casamance and returning to your accommodation at the end of the day.

Cap Skirring - Îles de la mangrove - Cap Skirring

Today offers an opportunity to discover another side of Casamance during a pirogue journey through the bolongs. You reach several islands inhabited by fishing and rice-farming communities, where time seems to follow the rhythm of the tides. After lunch on one of the islands, you return to Cap Skirring before sharing a final seaside dinner in a warm atmosphere accompanied by local music.
Day 11

Cap Skirring - Saly

The morning is free for you to enjoy the beaches of Cap Skirring one last time or browse the local craft shops. You then travel to the airport for your flight to Dakar, followed by a transfer to Saly. In the evening, your guide takes you to explore this lively seaside resort, where restaurants serve cuisine combining Senegalese flavours with international influences.
Day 12

Saly - Dakar

After breakfast, you are transferred to Blaise Diagne International Airport according to your flight schedule. It is time to leave Senegal with memories of African trails, authentic encounters and varied landscapes that shaped this adventure through Senegal, The Gambia and Casamance.
