Day 1

Kittilä

Upon arrival at Kittilä Airport, Philippe and his team welcome you. You are then transferred to the base for a welcome drink. A briefing covers the itinerary and how to operate your snowmobile. You also receive your extreme cold-weather kit. Dinner and your first overnight stay at the lodge.

Day 2

Karesuando - Hirvasvuopio

After breakfast, you set off to explore the northern part of the park along the Norwegian border. You enjoy a picnic lunch in the wilderness at the foot of Mount Tsaibma. You travel through Sámi territory, a land shaped by reindeer herding, and cross a river marking the border with Sweden. At the end of the day, you arrive at your cabin. Dinner and overnight stay.

Day 3

Hirvasvuopio - Kilpisjärvi - Saarikoski

You head north towards the Halti Massif, Finland’s highest point. You enjoy a picnic on the frozen Lake Kilpisjärvi before crossing the river that marks the border between Finland and Sweden. You then reach Leif’s farm in Saarikoski. Traditional sauna, dinner and overnight stay at the farm.

Day 4

Saarikoski - Skibotn - Saarikoski

You head north into increasingly mountainous terrain, crossing several passes between Sweden and Norway. You then descend towards the fjords until you reach sea level. Picnic lunch in the fjord. Afterwards, you follow the river upstream to Jussi’s farm. Dinner and overnight stay.

Day 5

Saarikoski / Rostrojärvi - Saarikoski Lodge

You cross the vast landscapes of Rostrojärvi National Park, a migration area for reindeer herds. Picnic lunch in the wilderness. At the end of the day, you return to Saarikoski Lodge. Dinner and overnight stay.

Day 6

Saarikoski - Kaaresuvanto

After breakfast, you travel across varied terrain, alternating between forests and the banks of the Muonio River, the natural border between Finland and Sweden. You reach Kaaresuvanto for the evening and spend the night at the lodge.

Day 7

Kaaresuvanto

Free day. You can take part in optional activities such as dog sledding, ice fishing, snowshoeing or relaxing at the lodge. End-of-trip evening and overnight stay.

Day 8

Kittilä

After breakfast, you are transferred to Kittilä Airport according to your flight schedule. This marks the end of Philippe’s services and your snowmobile adventure in Lapland.
