Kittila - Hetta
Arrival in Kittila. Transfer to the base in Hetta. Welcome drink, briefing and dinner at the cottage.
90km of trails
The morning begins with a briefing on handling and safety of your snowmobiles, followed by distribution of equipment.
Then you drive north towards the Norwegian border through immense open landscapes. Gradually ascending to higher altitudes, you drive on the tracks left by the migrating herds of reindeer. The Sami people inhabiting this region are the absolute masters in this land far north of Europe. This is followed by a picnic-style lunch around a bonfire in the middle of nowhere.
You return to your cottage in the evening. Enjoy a well-deserved dinner and sauna. Overnight at the cottage.
Hetta - Muonio (by Pallas Tunturii)
150km of trails
This is the longest leg of your snowmobile safari. Today you discover the boreal forest – the Taiga. This forest belt found in sub-arctic climates is the world’s largest biome. Consisting of a large variety of coniferous and deciduous trees, the forest also supports a rich and varied wildlife, including lynx, bears, wolves, wolverines, elk and reindeer.
Picnic style lunch in a cabin far away in the wilderness. We then leave the park to reach the Swedish border. Overnight in a cottage in Muonio.
Muonio - Hetta
After a good night’s rest, we drive up to the river border between Sweden and Finland. We then enter the forest and drive through varied terrain for the next leg of our snowmobile safari. You can enjoy the beauty of the massive Tunturi and its west face. Picnic on the riverside in a lodge, followed by driving to Hetta.
Subject to your flight timings, you enjoy a grand, traditional dinner in a Kota (a typical dwelling used by Sami people) inside a local reindeer farm.
Transfer to the airport and end of your snowmobile safari.
