Chiang Mai - Chiang Khong

Hopefully you got a little rest yesterday ! It’s time to start our Thailand motorcycle tours with a nice long drive along the beautiful and nicely paved roads of the hilly northern countryside. In the evening we’ll arrive in Chiang Khong near the Mekong to stop for the day.

Day 3

Chiang Khong - Luang Namtha

180 km

We’ll start early and head for the border to reach Laos by the lake in the morning. You’ll enjoy a beautiful ride through the hills as we begin the Laos motorbike tours stage of our trip. We will cross into the country and experience the charming villages with their traditional wooden houses built on stilts. Then we will end the day in Luang Namtha, the provincial capital.

Day 6

Luang Prabang

With so much to see in Luang Prabang, we are going to spend the whole day checking out the famed UNESCO World Heritage Site on our Laos motorbike tours. You can even choose to take your motorcycle for a loop around the city or give your bikes a rest and check it out on foot.

1 review for The hidden treasures of the Mekong

  1. :

I chose this trip because, despite my experience of trip motorcycle abroad (in Europe only), it seemed difficult to manage the rental of a motorcycle and the course in a country like Laos. The cost may seem high, but it is up to the benefits: a biker very experienced, French, English, professional and extremely friendly (thank you Josh!). He always took care of our safety and our health, our comfort, and especially the wish that we spend an unforgettable stay. We were four travelers (four bikers, four motorcycles) in the group and in addition to the escort, we had a local guide, a mechanic (who repaired the motorcycles during the night) and a driver who followed us in 4×4 with our luggage, water (it’s important) and spare parts in case … The accommodation throughout the course was rather high-end and atypical. We just had to ride on the slopes and enjoy the scenery and enjoy the meetings with the Laotians (it’s good to have a local guide to exchange a little). We must also salute the quality of the exchanges with the team who will check your ability to drive in these areas and who will remain at your disposal to prepare the file that will follow the first blow of the starter and until the return of the motorcycles. garage (thanks Martin). This is the first trip I make with Planet Ride and, for such exotic destinations, I really recommend it.
