Vichy – Mount Dore

Your motorcycle ride across Auvergne begins! The charming country roads of the Sioule valley lead you towards Auvergne Volcanoes Park. Next, you pass the towns of Orcival and Saint Nectaire and admire the Roman architecture . You continue your ride through the countryside and reach Murol. Here you visit Chateau du Murol, one of the most famous medieval castles in France, before continuing on towards the spa town of Mont-Dore and it’s thermal springs, situated at the foot of the inactive Puy de Sancy volcano.
Mount Dore – Saint Flour

You start by crossing over the Dore Mountain pass, famous for its hill-climb car races. Arrive in the quaint town of Besse en Chandesse and admire its rustic charm and medieval architecture. After exploring the town, continue the climb towards the summit of Puy Mary. The peak rises 1783m above sea level and was classified “A Great Site of France” in 2012, because of the stunning view it provides over the surrounding volcanic mountain chain. Before arriving in Murat for the night, you stop in Salers, a quintessential Auvergne village, famous for its delicious cheeses (ex. Cantal and Salers).
Saint Flour – Estaing

After breakfast, you head towards the volcanic plateau of Aubrac which crosses the Saint-Jacques de Compostelle pilgrimage route. You pass underneath the red viaduct of Garabit, built by Gustav Eiffel and company. In the heart of Aubrac you will admire ‘les burons’, small stone houses covered in slate, as well as old farms nestled in the mountains. You will love riding across this stunning landscape. Stop in Chaudes Aigues for lunch and visit its famed rejuvenating hot springs. Hop back on your bike and cross the Truyere Ravine as it leads you past one dam after another. Eventually you reach Estaing, on the edge of Lot river, the final stop for the day.
Estaing – Albi
158km - 4hrs of riding
Today you will cover some of the best roads of Quercy and pass some of its most beautiful sites – Conques and Figeac. Following the Aveyron Canyon, you cannot miss the villages of Najac and Cordes sur Ciel, where the fortified towns and castles date to the middle ages. As you continue your journey towards Albi you see its majestic cathedral and bell tower, which reaches up to 78m. This is the last stop of your journey. We will celebrate the end of a great trip with a goodbye dinner tonight.
