Airport Pickup at Viru Viru - Santa Cruz
After you arrive at the airport of Santa Cruz, Bolivia, we will head to the charming town of Samaipata (120 km, 3 hours). We will check into a cozy hotel and you can enjoy the remainder of the day exploring the town or relaxing before the start of your Bolivia motorcycle adventures tomorrow !
We’ll begin with a quick briefing on the rules of the road of Bolivia along with an introduction about your motorcycle. Then we’re on the road heading towards “El Fuerte.” Here can dig into the rich history of Inca culture and asks some of those questions you couldn’t back into school. The mix of concrete and dirt tracks will be the perfect way for you to get used to your bike and ready for anything on our adventure.
Samaipata - Camiri
The day will begin on smooth asphalt roads, but as we make our way into the mountains and cross the “codo de los Andes” will be on dirts roads along the Rio Seco Florida. We’ll wind along the river on our Bolivia motorcycle tours before we head towards Ipita following a similar route that Che followed.
Now we are heading deeper into Bolivia as we continue towards Lagunillas where Guevara’s guerrilla camp was located. We’ll visit the famous site before we head to the ancient village of Muyupampa and then Monteagudo where we’ll spend the night.
Monteagudo - Villa Serrano
We’re on the gravel roads that twist and turn across Bolivia’s wild scenery that lead to Villa Serrano. Here it’s said the charango, a traditional guitar-like instrument was invented. It’s also home to the largest charango on earth!
Villa Serrano - La Higuera
We’re crossing the Rio Grande on our Bolivia motorcycle trip where we’ll enjoy a picnic lunch on a suspension bridge that towers over the mighty river. If the water are not too strong, we can even enjoy a refreshing swim. By afternoon, we’ll arrive in La Higuera, where Che met his end. We’ll visit the famous school building where Guevara was executed and if we’re lucky meet some of the eye witnesses who there forty years ago. We’ll enjoy a traditional dinner over candle-light and hear more of this incredible story.
La Higuera - Samaipata,
We headed on the backroads Pucara, a small mountain town on our Bolivia motorcycle adventures. Here at Vallegrande, Che’s lifeless body was presented to the world as proof the revolutionary was dead. We’ll visit his burial place which was kept secret for thirty years before he was finally returned to his beloved Cuba. After lunch, we’ll head on the roads towards Sampiata arriving there by late afternoon.
Samaipata - Santa Cruz
It’s time to return our Bolivia motorcycles and head back to Santa Cruz where you can enjoy the city. We recommend doing a little exploring, souvenir shopping and checking out the Brazilian churrasqueira and some of the incredible Asian restaurants in town.
Our team will transfer you to the airport and assist you with check-in and customs before we say goodbye to wrap up our Bolivia motorcycle adventures. It’s be a great adventure and we hope you’ll back to explore more of this amazing country.
