Welcome to Namibia. At the airport, you’ll meet your driver who will take you over to Windhoek where you will pick up your vehicle and camping equipment. After a long flight, you’ll want to rest up and enjoy your hotel and the swimming pools before our adventure begins. You can also take the opportunity to explore the city or kick back in one of the many local hot springs. In fact, the original name for the area was “Ai-Gams” meaning “fire water” or hot springs. It’s a great city with a unique heritage where you can explore the colonial quarter, the Alte Feste (Old Fort), Christ Church and some of the modern downtown. Just be sure to be ready because our Namibia tours begin tomorrow !
Windhoek - Sesriem and Sossusvlei
Today, we’ll begin our Namibia tours by journeying across the Namib Desert which is considered one of the oldest deserts in the world. Stretching over a thousand miles along the entire Namibian Coast, the immense amount of sand meets the the coastal winds forming the highest sand dunes in the world including some that are nearly 300 meters tall in Sossusvlei. As we journey across this harsh, but beautiful landscape we’ll begin seeing some of our first animals including warthogs, oryx, mountain zebras and even baboons. We’ll stop for the night at Sesriem Camp where will have a short hike up the Elim Dune to experience an incredible sunset panorama with a stunning view of the desert and the surrounding Naukluft Mountains.
Day 3,4 & 5
Sossusvlei - Namibgrens
We’ll start early so that we hit Sossusvlei and Deadvlei by sunrise. It’s truly majestic to see the change of colors as the sun lifts over the horizon. In the morning cool, we’ll have a walk across the dune fields and get an experience to truly experience the unique flora and fauna of the Namib desert. Your guide knows it all and will take you down paths and trails where you will be able to meet oryx, springboks and even ostriches. As we continue our Namibia tours,you’ll cross into the Deadvlei so named because of the great landscape filled with ancient trees. Then you’ll cross above the desert as you take and off and land in a mystical location. Then you will return to the middle of the country where you have the option for some incredible hikes, canoeing, or more 4×4 adventures.
Day 6 & 7
Namibgrens - Etusis
Let’s get back on the road on our Namibia 4×4 tours as we roam delightful mountain landscapes. We’ll stop where you’ll have the option to hike or horseback and truly experience the wildlife that has grown to call this unique place home.
Day 8 & 9
Etusis - Brandberg
We are continuing our adventure to the Brandberg Massif and the renowned White Lady Lodge. As we journey across the desert, we’ll stop to hike up part of the Brandberg, the highest mountain in the country. We’ll then cross the Tsisab Ravine which features 45,000 ancient paintings from the San peoples including the famed “White Lady.”
Day 10 & 11
Brandberg - Etosha National Park
Today you will make your way into the Etosha National Parks, one of the most incredible in all of of southern Africa. This is the true Namibia safari that you have been waiting for. These plains are filled with animals from elephants to rhinoceros, zebras and gazelles and their fearsome predators, cheetahs and gazelles. Be sure you start early because animals are more active in the cooler parts of the day. As we journey across the major sites on our Namibia 4×4 tours, you’ll get to see so much , wildlife. As the temperature rises during the day, we’ll take a rest in one of the three camps, Okaukuejo, Namutoni or Halali, where we can take a little nap before we go searching for new encounters. In the evening, we recommend you head out to the watering holes where you can see more animal activities at night. What an adventure !
Day 12 & 13
Etosha National Park - Bushmanland
Along the way on our Namibia 4×4 tours, you’ll have the chance to stop at Hoba, the spot where the largest meteorite on earth was found. This is just a small part of the Roy’s Camp Area, a massive farm mainly built for cattle breeding. Inside here, you will have the opportunity to interact with the San People at the Living Museum of the Ju/ Hoansi-San and experience the culture and traditional way of life. In their community, you will get to learn about hunting, gathering food, making bows and traps and then even have opportunity to go with of people out into the bush to search for food.
Bushmanland - Mahango
Today we will be traveling along the eastern edge of Namibia on the Caprivi Strip which forms a natural border between Namibia, Angola, Botswana and Zimbabwe. It’s the only place on earth where four different countries meet! This is the pinnacle of our Namibia safari.The large rivers including the Kwando, Chobe and Okavango provide the water necessary to support a huge variety of bird and animal species. We’ll spend the night on the banks of the Kavango River and the comfortable Mahangu Safari Lodge. Here you will the opportunity to go on a safari across a small reserve which is known for its elephants, antelopes, and where you will get to see some hippos, crocodiles and maybe even some monkeys.
Day 15 & 16
Mahango - Mashi Conservancy
Get ready to cross the Bwabwata National Park which stretches over 2,000 square miles. Watch as the landscape transforms before you in these hardwood forests which feature Zambezi Teak and wild Seringa. Animals are everywhere from lions and leopards to cheetahs and hippos and even crocs and wildebeests. This is another fantastic opportunity for a great safari across the Mashi Conservatory along with the Mudumu National Park. You can even do a little fishing along the river and feel the pull of the strong tiger fish. We’ll spend the night alongside the river edge in our camp.
Day 17 & 18
Chobe - Victoria Falls
You visit the Chobe National Park, a region rich in wildlife and birds.
The lodges of this region usually offer cruises on the river. It is a experience to be able to approach large herds of hippos or buffaloes. If you want, you can take a boat cruise down the river until sunset and go on safaris in Chobe National Park.
Day 19 & 20
We have finally reached the famed Victoria falls. Here you have so many options from a helicopter flight to walking with the lions, to rafting. This is your opportunity to enjoy one of the world’s treasures.
It’s been an incredible adventure. From the famed waterfalls, we’ll take you over to the airport where you can continue your adventures or head home. What a trip !
