From the red railway arch bridge of the Garabit Viaduct to the picturesque summit of Le Puy Mary – you will be visiting the popular attractions of this spectacular region. Arrival in the thermal town of Vichy with your personal motorcycle. Our expert local partner Laurent’s team will meet you for a briefing on your trip. After check into your hotel in the city centre, relax and prepare yourself for your motorcycle trip the next day.

Day 2

Vichy – Le Mont Dore

153 km of roads - 4h of driving

You start the first day of crossing Auvergne by motorcycle. You commence your trip by riding on the beautiful country roads of the Sioule valley. You then reach the Auvergne Volcanoes Regional Park. You cross Orcival and Saint Nectaire, known for its Roman architecture. You then continue riding in the countryside and arrive in Murol. Here you can visit Château de Murol, one of the most famous medieval fortresses in France, before continuing towards the thermal city of Le Mont-Dore, located at the base of now inactive volcano of Puy de Sancy.

Day 3

Le Mont Dore – Murat

139 km of roads – 3h 30m of driving

You start this day by crossing the pass of Le Mont Dore, known for its motor racing events. You arrive in Besse-en-Chandesse and take your time to explore this lovely town. You then ride your motorcycle to the summit of Le Puy Mary, rising to 1,783 meters above sea level. The summit has been named the “Grand Site de France” in 2012 for its stupefying views over the entire chain of surrounding volcanic hills. Before finally arriving in Murat for the night, you stop by Salers, a beautiful Auvergne village known for its amazing cheese.

Day 4

Murat – Estaing

123 km of roads – 3h 30m of driving

After breakfast, you head towards Aubrac, a volcanic plateau that crosses the pilgrim ways or the “French Route” to Saint Jacques de Compostela. On the way, you cross the red railway arch bridge of Garabit Viaduct that was constructed by Gustave Eiffel’s company. In Aubrac, you will be greeted by several “burons”, typical stone houses of the region covered with stone or slate roofs, and sights of old farms in the middle of the mountains. After a beautiful riding session through the beautiful landscapes of Auvergne, you stop for lunch in Chaudes Aigues and then indulge yourself with a visit to its hot water springs. You then continue your motorcycle journey, crossing the gorges of Truyère, passing one dam after another, before finally arriving in Estaing, located along the border of Lot. You stay overnight in Estaing.

Day 5

Estaing – Le Puy en Velay

156 km of roads – 4h of driving

The route that you take today goes through the key stops of the pilgrim ways to Saint Jacques de Compostela, including the famous pilgrim towns of Nasbinals, Aumont Aubrac and Saint Alban sur Limagnole. Around noon, you arrive in Le Puy en Velay, a beautiful historic town surrounded by old volcanic hills. The town is also home to some important religious sites, including the famous Rock of the Virgin. The town has retained its natural beauty and perfectly preserved its historical heritage.


For this trip, your vehicle is: Your personal motorcycle.

To drive this vehicle you need : permis moto sup. 125cc.
